Interested in writing for the Educator's Blog?

The Defined Educator's Blog focuses on innovative teaching and learning strategies, technologies, and practices that empower students to build future-ready skills. The mission of the blog is to share the voices and insights of K-12 educators who are passionate about engaging students and inspiring them to learn.

We welcome guest article submissions from teachers, school leaders, bloggers, and authors. While familiarity with Defined digital resources is beneficial, it's not required.

 

Writing Guidelines:

  1. Writing Style and Tone
    • Browse our blog to understand our preferred topics and writing style
    • Use a professional yet conversational tone
    • Write with clarity and purpose
    • Include specific examples and actionable takeaways
    • Break up text with subheadings, bullet points, or numbered lists when appropriate
  2. Article Length and Structure
    • Aim for 500-900 words
    • Include a compelling introduction that hooks the reader
    • Organize content with clear sections
    • End with a strong conclusion or call to action
    • We'll provide feedback if length adjustments are needed
  3. Visual Content
    • Include original photos whenever possible
    • Student action photos are especially valuable (with documented permission)
    • If no personal images are available, we'll provide appropriate stock photos
    • Consider including relevant charts, graphs, or infographics
  4. Content Focus and Topics
    • Write from your professional experience on topics such as:
      • Career-connected learning strategies
      • Future-ready and durable skills development
      • Project-based learning implementation
      • Computer science and technology integration
      • Artificial intelligence in education
      • Financial literacy education
      • STEM/STEAM initiatives
      • Performance task design and implementation
      • Cross-curricular integration
      • Student engagement strategies
      • Authentic assessment approaches
      • Portrait of a Graduate initiatives
      • Workplace skill development
      • Work-based learning programs and opportunities:

  5. Author Bio Include a brief biography (50-75 words) containing:
    • Current title and institution
    • School district
    • Relevant professional experience
    • Social media handles
